Koester7Its that time of year again for Koester Racing, and all of our friends on the NTPA Grand National circuit, as the trip to Tennessee is one that seems to be marked on everyones calendars. The trip to Chapel Hill for Koester Racing always includes a stop at the local OReilly Auto Parts store just a mile or so from the facility where the Chapel Hill Lions Club hosts the cant miss event. For us there is no group more hospitable to our team and fans than the guys in orange that work so hard to raise funds for the community and put on one top notch pull.

In addition to the great excitement of the Super National competition, Chapel Hill serves as the second stop of the Shell Rotella Cup, the three event series that offers additional money for top finishes at Tomah, Chapel Hill and Bowling Green, so there was an additional incentive to put the Minor Brothers Hemis to work on the clay.koester1

Both nights, Adam Koester found himself right on the edge of a Pull-Off but fell short finishing fourth in both sessions. While it is hard to be disappointed with fourth in a pack of tractors like Chapel Hill had, Adam would have loved to be in the hunt for the coveted Directors Chair that Chapel Hill presents to their winners. Friday night, a blower belt sheared on the Shell Rotella T6 Beast of Burden which hurt the distance the tractor could put out.

Koester4On Friday Night, Larry and his Shell Rotella T Footloose were on a strong pass when the tractor unfortunately went out of bounds on the Grand Stand chalk line. Even having had to bound the brake, Larry was still beyond three hundred feet at the time of going out, which gave the veteran some confidence. Saturday evening Larry had his mind prepared to bounce back from the DQ on Friday night. With the seventh hook of the class, Larry sailed out the gate on a beautiful pass to join Phil Fairbanks Bobcat Jr., and Adam Bauer Iron Toy in a pull off. In the pull off Larry had the front end lifted and the tractor was running hard when for the second time over the weekend, Koester Racing suffered blower belt breakage and settled for third. Disappointed that the belt may have cost him a shot at the win, Koester was still pleased to make the podium and build on the momentum he had carried in to Chapel Hill, after his win in New Hampton.

Thanks to the Orange Shirts and the amazing fans of Chapel Hill. We look forward to going back next year and hope you will join us. Next week we will be at Fort Recovery, Ohio for two days of NTPA Grand National competition!
